We know that people don’t just go online anymore. We exist in a digital ecosystem of interconnected businesses, smartphone, tablets, and computers. And fiber optic networks play a pivotal role in our new age by delivering troves of data across the globe at the speed of light.
The vast digital domain has forever changed the way we live our lives and has set the stage for new innovation. As new advancements continue to propel businesses and communities into the future, Megladon Manufacturing is a reliable partner to count on to help stay connected to a digital transformation.
To be an industry leader in fiber optics means knowing a customer’s requirements and then exceeding them. Megladon is a trailblazer within the fiber optic industry because of our commitment to helping customers reduce the high costs associated with deploying, maintaining, and protecting fiber optic networks. We accomplish this by bringing custom designs to the marketplace, engineering simplicity into fiber optic networks, while delivering competitive prices.
EXPERIENCE MEANS RELIABILITY
Megladon Manufacturing has deployed millions of fiber assemblies all over the world since 2000 from our facility located in Austin, Texas. Our on-site fiber optic cable assembly as well as custom 3D printing are key features differentiating Megladon from many competitors. Most vendors and suppliers see outsourcing as a way to keep overhead costs down. Since Megladon produces at such high volume, world-class manufacturing facilities make the most sense and allow us to fill custom orders efficiently. On-site manufacturing capabilities not only cut lead time but help fulfill orders for customers at a lower cost. When you order through Megladon, we will design, manufacture, assemble, and deliver straight from our facility in Austin. For customers with a Trade Agreement Act (TAA) compliance requirement, this means that governmental agencies and others can use our products with “made in the USA” confidence.
Our manufacturing facilities include fiber optic termination, polishing, and assembly. A full engineering team allows Megladon to design new products and create custom ones with relative ease. At Megladon, we build unique fiber optic solutions with the future in mind. We take a proactive role in tomorrow’s smarter, better-connected businesses and communities, while forging the path for new innovations.
Along with innovating fiber connections themselves, our forward-thinking in-house 3D printing capabilities give Megladon additional creative solutions to save costs, cut turnaround time and customize on the fly.
INNOVATION MEANS QUALITY
The Hardened Lens Contact (HLC) process is a patented fiber termination procedure that yields significant benefits to overall optical performance. In the place of traditional fiber termination, Megladon manufacturing uses a CO2 laser to harden the entire mating surface. This process changes the physical characteristics of the glass and creates an integrated lens at the endface.
The HLC laser termination process changes the physical properties of the glass at the endface to create a surface that is harder and smoother. These changes create a surface that is scratch-resistant and will withstand a higher number of connections compared to standard connectors. Extensive testing has proven HLC connectors do not degrade in performance over the course of 1000 connections.
Along with innovating fiber connections themselves, our forward-thinking in-house 3D printing capabilities give Megladon additional creative solutions to save costs, cut turnaround time and customize on the fly. From custom cassettes to custom test and measurement solutions, additive manufacturing helps us solve problems creatively and make possible what previously may have been thought to be impossible in the fiber industry.
