Megladon’s Cynthia Ferrell Organizes Successful MARC Run

This year marked the 15th Annual MARC Run, and once again Cynthia’s involvement was vital to the event’s success and growth with the help of newcomer Donna Phillips, another member of the Megladon family. Each year, the MARC Run is hosted by the Bad to the Bone Riders, along with the Milam Adult Resource Center Board and friends from the Rockdale community. The money raised from the event benefits the adults with disabilities that MARC serves.
One of Cynthia’s goals each year is to keep the cause personal for each participant. “This year, we took all the riders on a detour past the MARC to show them the impact their donations have made,” Cynthia says. “This is particularly important for riders from out of town who may not have seen the center before.”
This year’s MARC Run included over 96 motorcycles, 44 additional passengers and 6 other vehicles, and raised over $27,000 for the MARC through a combination of entry fees, an auction and sponsorship. “It’s amazing what we’ve achieved,” says Cynthia. “The first year we raised a total of $300 and this year we were over $27,000. That money not only provides new resources for the center, but also gives clients an opportunity to participate in a summer camp or ‘dream week’ where they get to do a new activity of their choice every day for a full week.”
A BBQ dinner was held after the ride giving non-riders from the community a way to contribute. In total, 43 briskets were donated to the benefit, all of which were cooked by one dedicated volunteer.
Megladon is proud to have dedicated community servants like Cynthia and Donna as part of our family!
